The closest most of us come to really nice tea involves plonking a little bag in hot water. But if you ever want a cup of the really the good stuff, save up $30,000 (R227,000) and buy a kilogram of Da Hong Pao Oolong tea. Oolong, also known as yellow tea, is harvested later than green tea but earlier than black/Ceylon tea. The Chinese regard it as the best type of this leafy beverage and go further to insist that it is harvested at its origin (so not a bush transplanted to your backyard). Da Hong Pao tea plants are bred from three bushes estimated to be nearly 1,000 years old and still in their original home. If that is beyond your budget, there is always Tieguanyin Oolong tea, which will only set you back $3,000 (R22,700) per kilogram.
